Umbrella Centre of Herne Bay
'Improving Mental Health in the Community'

54 William Street, Herne Bay, Kent CT6 5PB

 Friendly Staff are on site every Monday to Thursday 10am to 4pm

The Umbrella Centre of Herne Bay provides friendly community based support for residents of Herne Bay and the surrounding communities who may be experiencing difficulties with their mental health and well-being and/or associated learning disabilities.

We want to provide activities and services that welcome people to a safe and non-judgemental environment where they can gain peer support, learn new skills, reduce their own isolation and for some start a journey of recovery so that they can experience positive well-being.

Founded in 1985 and registered as a charity in 2004, our activities are primarily based at the Friendship House located in Herne Bay high street with a nearby community garden used for our outside based groups.

We have a weekly timetable of regular activities that includes;

  • The Parasol Peer Support Group
  • Social Support and Interaction Sessions
  • Arts and Crafts
  • IT Computer Skills Learning
  • Healthy Group Walks
  • Singing and Musicality
  • Gardening Groups

We also provide a "Members Hour" session every Monday afternoon where we will often have guest come along and introduce us to new activities including: Yoga, Tai Chi, Body breathing, Music Creation, Dancing and Chair-based Exercising.

As well as all of this our staff regularly plan interactive trips for our members to help provide enrichment and learning. A warm welcome awaits anyone that wants to get involved.
